Salman Khan joined the cast of Chiranjeevi-starrer Godfather for a cameo earlier this week. The film also marks the Bollywood star’s debut in Telugu films. However, Dabangg Khan, known for his generosity, had a prerequisite before joining the cast and crew of Godfather. That he will not be paid for the film.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, the makers of Godfather were keen to pay Salman a hefty amount for his role as they believed that the presence of the Bollywood superstar in the film would bring more audiences to the cinemas of the Hindi belt. However, Salman was clear from day one that he would do the film only for his love and respect for Chiranjeevi and not for the money.
Earlier, Chiranjeevi shared a photo on Twitter welcoming Salman Khan on the sets of Godfather. “Welcome to #Godfather, brother @BeingSalmanKhan! Your entry has got everyone excited and the excitement has taken the next level. Sharing the screen with you is an absolute pleasure. Your presence will undoubtedly give that magical #KICK to the audience,” Chiranjeevi tweeted.
Salman Khan is said to have adjusted the call sheet for this film for a week. The Godfather is the official Telugu remake of the Malayalam film Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Jayam Mohan Raja, who is directing the remake, has already completed 60% of the film.
The Godfather team is currently shooting for the film in Mumbai. According to industry sources, Khan will be reprising the role of Prithviraj Sukumaran in the Telugu version.
The film will release in five different languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. The Godfather also stars Nayanthara and Satya Dev in lead roles. The upcoming project is controlled by Konidela Production Company and Super Good Films.
S Thaman has composed the soundtrack for the film, and Nirav Shah has handled the cinematography.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan will also be seen in a 15-minute cameo in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathan.
