Mumbai: Ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has completed 25 years in the Hindi film industry as a director today. SLB’s first directorial venture ‘Khamoshi’ starring Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala in lead roles was released 25 years ago today (August 9, 1996). Written by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar, ‘Khamoshi’ is one of the best Bollywood musicals.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali also directed some of the iconic Bollywood movies – ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Black’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmavat’ and others. SLB has directed many stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh. He has paved the way for many actors to become superstars through his films.
As today is a special day for the ace filmmaker, several Bollywood celebrities took to their social media to celebrate Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 25 years in the industry.
Congratulating Salman Khan, wrote, ’25 years of SLB Congratulations to Sanjay on completing 25 wonderful years..’
Ranveer Singh penned a long heartfelt note for the director. A part of his note read, “My relationship with SLB is very deep. I have done my best work with them. He is a master of his craft and a true artist. You have tremendous growth as an artist whenever you are guided by him. He challenges you, he inspires you to deliver a performance that is visceral, spirited and comes from your inner space. “
Priyanka Chopra also tweeted, ‘Congratulations on 25 years of Bhansali Prod. Sanjay sir has single-handedly given a genre to Hindi cinema, which belongs only to him. Glad to be a small part of this incredible legacy. There’s more magic here”.
Alia Bhatt, who will next be seen in the lead role in ‘Gangubai Kathiwadi’, posted a picture with SLB and wrote, “25 years of magician and his magic. Love you sir”.

Speaking on the work front, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next directorial venture ‘Gangubai Kathiwadi’ is awaiting its release in theatres. The film will star Alia Bhatt in the lead role and will mark the actress’ first collaboration with the director.
