Notable Indian poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi left an indelible mark in both Hindi cinema and Urdu poetry with his mesmerizing verses. Abdul Hai was the original name of the great poet. He was often referred to as the ‘Bard for Dalits’ because of his incredibly sensitive writings that addressed Dalit issues.
Recipient of several prestigious awards including Padma Shri, his writings left everyone spellbound. He debuted as a lyricist in the films Azadi Ki Raah Par and Baazi. He was much loved and loved by millions of people across the world for his extraordinary writings containing subtle messages. He died on 25 October 1980 at the age of 59.

From the film Phir Subah Hogi, Sahir’s heartwarming verses have been touted as the most optimistic. His lyrics along with Khayyam’s music gave this song a rare talent.
