C-JeS Studio and Creative Group ING’s merger brings actress Hyeri from the group Girl’s Day under the same roof as her ex Ryu Jun Yeol.

C-JeS Studio, an entertainment agency representing South Korean star Ryu Jun Yeol and other renowned artists, is currently making headlines after they acquired Creative Group ING. This move brings actress Hyeri from the group Girl’s Day under the same roof as Ryu Jun Yeol. As per Hankyung Business, the reports indicate that C-JeS acquired full ownership and the acquisition price was 1.3 billion won (approximately Rs 8 Crore). Initially, the move surprised many, but it was later clarified that both agencies belonged to the same owner. CEO Baek Chang Ju, holds the largest shares of both C-JeS and Creative. While the two companies previously operated independently, the merger is expected to bring together the management and artists of both agencies.

This development comes while Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol are embroiled in controversy. Many are now wondering how it’ll impact both the artists and what will be their reaction. For those not aware, Hyeri and Ryu were in a relationship for several years until they parted ways in November 2023. However, earlier this year, rumours surfaced online that Ryu was dating Han So Hee, which was later confirmed by their agencies. This raised many eyebrows and controversy surrounding their personal lives. Due to the intense public scrutiny, the two artists decided to end their relationship just two weeks after confirming their romance.

Following the confirmation of Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol’s relationship, both actors were set to star in the upcoming film Hyun Hok. However, after news of their breakup surfaced online, the production company Showbox announced that the two artists have been dropped from the project. A representative from the production clarified that although there were talks about their involvement, their appearances were no longer under consideration for roles. Additionally, Ryu’s agency further stated that he’s no longer part of the film. According to them, Ryu agreed to end the negotiations so that production would not face any negative consequences.

Other than Ryu Jun Yeol, C-JeS, which was established in December 2009, represents numerous more talented artists, such as Ra Mi Ran, Sol Kyung Gu, Oh Dal Su and Lee Jae Wook, as well as the renowned singer Gummy.

Last year, C-JeS faced challenges with sales of 76.2 billion won (approximately Rs 470 Crore) and an operating loss of 6.5 billion won (approximately Rs 40 Crore). To address this, the agency has been taking steps to enhance its operations. Alongside acquiring Creative, which represents Hyeri, the studio also secured a 51% stake in J&Agent, another entertainment agency, for 1 billion won. Additionally, the agency also successfully attracted 2.7 billion won in investments from Hana Securities and others by the end of last year. With these strategic moves, C-JeS aims to strengthen its presence in the industry and improve its overall performance.
