Kang Tae Oh expressed his excitement about the upcoming SNL episode saying that even during his military service, he enjoyed watching the show.

Kang Tae Oh, the popular South Korean actor and singer known for his roles in various television dramas and films, is all prepared to make his first television appearance since completing his military service. Kang Tae Oh will reportedly be hosting an episode of SNL Korea, making a much-awaited comeback in his career post-military discharge. The news was officially announced by Coupang Play on April 5, revealing that Kang Tae Oh will be hosting Episode 7 of Season 5 of the SNL Korea reboot. Tae Oh served as an active-duty soldier for approximately one year and six months, starting September 2022. He was discharged from the military on March 19, 2024.

During his military service, Kang Tae Oh was actively involved in various activities. He read the memorandum at last year’s memorial service on Hyeonchungil (Memorial Day in South Korea), showing his dedication to honouring those who have served their country. Additionally, he served as an assistant instructor for the Recruit Training Center, highlighting his commitment to supporting and training new recruits, reports Soompi.

According to Soompi, Kang Tae Oh expressed his excitement about the upcoming opportunity, saying, “Even during my military service, I enjoyed watching SNL and gained a lot of energy from it. I’ve always admired the crew’s passion and dedication to their comedic craft, so it’s a special feeling to be appearing on the show myself. With gratitude to the audience and fans who have been waiting for me, I will do my best to create a legendary episode.”

SNL Korea, the Korean version of the popular American sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, originally aired for nine seasons on tvN from 2011 through 2017. The show was later rebooted in 2021 on the OTT platform Coupang Play, featuring a new cast that includes Shin Dong Yup, Kwon Hyuk Soo, Ahn Young Mi, Jung Sang Hoon, Kim Min Kyo, and more. The current season airs every Saturday at 8 p.m. KST on Coupang Play, bringing laughter and entertainment to audiences across South Korea.

In addition to his upcoming appearance on SNL Korea, Kang Tae Oh is also preparing to return to the small screen in a new project. Reports suggest that he is considering a role in the upcoming romantic comedy-drama titled Potato Research Institute. His agency, Man of Creation, confirmed the news, stating, “Potato Research Institute is a project that Kang Tae Oh is currently positively considering,” as reported by Soompi.

Fans of Kang Tae Oh are eagerly anticipating his return to television and are looking forward to seeing him showcase his talents in both comedy and drama.
