Rumors of Nawaz Sharif’s possible return create political ruckus in Pakistan.

New Delhi: The possible return of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his homeland has stirred up the political climate in the country, posing further challenges for the Imran Khan government, said an ANI report.

According to the report, the rumors of Sharif’s return have sparked a heated debate ahead of the next general election and at a time when the government and the opposition are at loggerheads, both sides have defended their point of view.

PML-N president and Nawaz Sharif’s younger brother Shahbaz Sharif had earlier categorically denied that Nawaz would return to Pakistan until he fully recovered. In a statement issued on Saturday, Shahbaz said Nawaz could legally stay in the United Kingdom until the Immigration Tribunal rules on his appeal against the British Home Office’s refusal to extend his visa.

“It is inhuman to play politics over the health of the three-time prime minister. The government machinery is bent on defaming Sharif for his politics, which is bringing disrepute to the country,” he said. Shahbaz further said that Nawaz will return to Pakistan after his full recovery and when the doctors in London allow him to go back home.

Meanwhile, PML-N vice-president and Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz had said in a tweet that the visa issue had again proved how her father was on the nerves of members of Imran Khan’s government.

“This fake government has accepted its defeat from Nawaz Sharif, who is the present and future of Pakistan. By targeting a big personality, a pygmy cannot be raised in stature,” he said.
