RTO: Document forging racket busted, 3 held Surat News – Times of India

Surat: Dindoli police busted a racket making forged documents and arrested three people including the kingpin and two agents working in the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The accused were experts in making fake Aadhar cards, PAN cards, election cards, vehicle registration cards and fake RTO Pay challan, police said.
Police said that the 36-year-old Vishwanath Savi, a school dropout, was the mastermind of the racket and was in this business for the past few years. He was earlier arrested by the Umra police in 2020 on charges of forging documents. Two others arrested on Monday in connection with the racket have been identified as Mohammad Arif alias Shahrukh Shah and Akbar Sheikh, both residents of Marutinagar in Limbayat. He worked as an RTO agent and was in charge of bringing customers into service.
The police first came to know about the illegal racket when they caught a person who had submitted fake documents. On being questioned by one, the accused told them about Sav. The police sent a dummy customer with Rs 2,000 to verify the information given by the accused, which turned out to be true.
The police immediately raided Sao’s house at Angan Residency in Dindoli and nabbed him. Police recovered a pen drive from the house containing blank formats of important documents including Aadhaar, PAN card, election card, vehicle registration card/books and RTO challan payment receipt.
On interrogation, Sao named his accomplices Mohammad Arif and Akbar Sheikh who were also arrested. The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code under 467 (forgery of documents), 468 (forgery with the intention of cheating) and the Information Technology Act.
The other accused wanted in the case is Sameer alias Tameta SheikhMujahid Pathan and Sunil Panchal, On Tuesday, Surat Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar appreciated the work of Dindoli police and announced a reward for the team.
