In this backdrop, the state government has issued an order to strengthen surveillance along the Kerala-Karnataka borders. Under this, instructions have been given to strengthen the check posts on the inter-state border. That’s why, verses, Nettanige Mudanuru, Saradka, Jalsoor and all other check posts will be monitored round the clock to prevent unnecessary movement of people.
Village panchayats of border areas have also been asked to put up posts.
“Since the district receives patients from Kerala, we have directed all hospitals here to conduct RT-PCR tests for patients and their visitors. We have also opened swab collection centers at the borders and deployed police force. Those entering Karnataka through district boundaries will compulsorily bring RT-PCR negative certificate. While the positivity rate in Dakshina Kannada is less than 5%, Kerala is reporting more than 10%. So, to prevent the possibility of a third wave and reduce the number of cases, we have strengthened border surveillance,” he said.
