Rs 21,000 cr extra spent on Covid, natural calamities: Chandrima

The increasing number of COVID, natural calamities have resulted in additional cost to the state. The amount of the jar is about 21 thousand crore rupees. This demand was made by independent Finance Minister of the state Chandrima Bhattacharya in the budget session. He said that due to all these reasons, the state had to spend about Rs 21 crore more than the budget for the financial year 2021-22. Consequently, as a result of borrowing money from the market, the state will have to pay an additional Rs 4556 crore in interest. The Finance Minister said that all this money was spent on health and welfare.

There was no such protest from the BJP after the Finance Minister presented this information. However, the finance minister said the situation forced the state to spend and it worked. At the same time, the Finance Minister fired at the Center for not giving money. However, BJP MLA Vishnu Prasad Sharma questioned whether the expenditure was genuine. His question was whether the government would spend that much money at all? After this the Finance Minister targeted the BJP. He said that the health infrastructure for Kovid had to be increased further due to situational reasons. Along with this, help has also been given to the victims. Scholarships have been given to the students. So the state has to spend extra money.

At the same time, the Finance Minister highlighted the disadvantages of the way the state health department has improved. “Before the Trinamool government came to power, there were 1355 seats in the state. Now it has been increased to 5,000. During Chandrima’s speech, opposition groups called for a boycott of the assembly.
