Roshni: Change of guard: encroachers crack down on Rani Jhansi Road. Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) coming to power, the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (AAP)sparkling) Officials swung into action and removed illegal contracts from outside the multi-storey building Rani Jhansi Road on Tuesday.
In the last five years, the authorities did not take any action against those encroaching upon the prime property.
The multi-storey building is a white elephant for LIT as they have failed to utilize it even after several attempts to sell it. Due to the dilapidated structure of the building, illegal vendors have occupied its exterior.
“a former Legislator Congress was behind this illegal activity. He had also parked his food trucks at the same place. Initially we were getting fare from these food trucks, but gradually it stopped. We had also asked the former MLA to remove the trucks from here, but our arguments were not heard.
With a change of guard, officials used force to vacate the prime location amid strong outrage from vendors.
Though two food trucks stand at the spot every day, there was one on Tuesday. Since there was no one with it, LIT officials have given two days to remove it otherwise they will pick it up.
LIT Executive Engineer Naveen Malhotra He said, ‘We had been insisting on this campaign for a long time and had asked the Municipal Corporation and the police also to get it done, but it did not happen. The employees were on election duty for the last two-three months. Now we have removed the encroachment and will try to build boundary wall in the outer area so that the encroachers do not come back.”
