Sasaram: A local court on Friday sentenced a man to death for raping and killing a 10-year-old girl. Rohtas District 14 November 2020.
Neeraj Bihari Lal’s POSO Court also asked the state government to pay Rs 8 lakh as compensation to the parents of the deceased under the provision of compensation scheme for the victim woman of sexual assault offense 2019. A total of 11 witnesses were examined in the case.
Sources said that Balram Singh, accused of Dalmia Nagar police station area, brought the neighboring girl to his house on the pretext of showing the idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi and raped her. Fearing to be caught, Singh brutally killed her and hid her body in a box. When the girl did not return home, her family members became suspicious and searched Singh’s residence, where the body was found in the box.
Singh was arrested and the police had filed a charge sheet against him in February this year. On the request of the district administration, the court held Singh guilty while hearing the matter expeditiously. The court described it as a “rarest of rare” case and sentenced them to death and a fine of Rs 50,000.
