Rohit Sharma out of isolation after testing negative for COVID-19

A senior BCCI official said, “Yes, Rohit has tested negative and as per medical protocol is now out of quarantine. However, he is not playing today’s T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire as he has to play the first T20I. Will need some recovery and training before that.” The official told PTI.

As per the medical protocol, any player, who is out of quarantine, has to undergo mandatory heart test to check lung capacity and how it is working post COVID-19.

The Indian team was desperate to play Rohit but before the day of the game he tested positive thrice and so India had a new captain in the form of Jasprit Bumrah.

While Rohit will play the first match of the white-ball series, the second game will see players like Virat Kohli, Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja available.
