Rohini Court Shootout: Delhi Police Crime Branch detains gangster Naveen Balli

The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Tuesday took jailed gangster Naveen Balli into custody for two days to inquire about the killing of Jitendra Gogi in the shootout inside the Rohini courtroom last month.

A few days ago, the Crime Branch had detained another jailed gangster Tillu Tajpuria and interrogated him. Tajpuria and Balli have been kept in Mandoli Jail No. 15. Jail officials said that Tajpuria has returned to jail after the end of his three-day police remand.

A senior jail official said this is the first time that Bali has been taken into police remand after being interrogated inside the jail.

According to the police, Tajpuria is one of the key conspirators behind the dramatic shooting inside the Rohini courtroom on September 24.

The role of jailed gangster Sunil Rathi and Naveen Balli, both heads of different criminal gangs, is also under question.

Two attackers disguised as lawyers shot and killed Jitendra Gogi inside the Rohini court. He was then killed in police firing.

Preliminary investigation of the case revealed that Tajpuria had given instructions to kill Gogi over the phone. A source said that Tajpuria was in touch with his colleagues over VoIP calls and was instructing them to execute the plan.

Umang Yadav and Vinay were arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in connection with the firing from a flat in north west Delhi’s Haiderpur area and later their custody was handed over to the Crime Branch, which is probing the matter, police officials said. has been

The Gogi and Tillu gangs have reportedly been at war for years and their rivalry has claimed dozens of lives. To gain supremacy, these two gangs have formed alliances with other inter-state gangsters.

According to the police, the leader of the Gogi gang is from Kala Jathedi, Lawrence Bishnoi, Sampat Nehra, Ashok Pradhan, Hashim Baba, while the Tillu gang is getting support from Neeraj Bawana, Sunil Rathi, Naveen Bali, Nasir.

Balli was involved in the conspiracy to kill Gogi. On his instructions, one of his associates, Naveen Hooda, brought a Nepalese national dressed as advocates with weapons to the Rohini court to join the other attackers Rahul and Jagga on the day of the incident.

“Custodial interrogation of Naveen Balli is necessary to unearth the deep-rooted conspiracy as well as to identify and arrest the alleged co-accused Naveen Hooda and the alleged Nepalese man,” a senior police officer said.
