Rockstar hints at GTA Trilogy definitive edition for mobile, PC and consoles – Times of India

Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto III, vice City, and San Andreas are each getting HD remasters. They will be released in a package called Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
The collection will be coming to PC (via Rockstar Games Launcher), PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch will also host them. It will come to iOS and Android in the first half of 2022. Pricing and release date are yet to be officially shared.
The Verge reports that Rockstar Games hasn’t explicitly mentioned what kind of technical improvements were made, nor has it shared any footage yet. But it did say that each game has received “across the board upgrade, including graphical improvements and modern gameplay enhancements.” The company decided to take the faithful route to its remasters, leaving the “classic look and feel” of the originals to how they were presented on the PS2.
Grand Theft Auto V launched eight years ago and it may sound strange to play a Grand Theft Auto game that doesn’t let you swap between heroes, but the adventures of Claude, the silent hero in GTA III; Tommy Varsetti in Vice City; And CJ’s in San Andreas is still worth a shot.
Rockstar says it will announce more about its collection of games in the coming weeks. But ahead of launch, it will begin removing existing versions of each title from digital storefronts next week. The new-gen port of GTA 5 was recently delayed from November 2021 to March 2022, so it looks like this new collection could fill its place in the release schedule.
According to ScreenRant, Rockstar will be using these remasters as a way of measuring interest for remasters for other past games. Rockstar is reportedly rounding up a remaster of Red Dead Redemption, though it’s unclear whether the developer will put forth as much effort as possible for that remaster. If the GTA Remaster Trilogy is successful in sales, it’s possible that more classic Rockstar games could get the remaster treatment in the coming years.
