Robert Pattinson is a tyrannical Cape Crusader in ‘The Batman’ trailer

The Batman starring Robert Pattinson has garnered a lot of buzz since its announcement. The Matt Reeves directorial is slated to be a darker take on the DC superhero, and will see the character pitted against a number of iconic villains, including Catwoman, The Riddler, and The Penguin. The trailer of the film was released on Saturday at the DC Fandome event. In the video, Pattinson’s version of Batman looks more tyrannical and violent. The tone of the film is much more gritty and darker than the previous versions of the film. This includes Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, arguably the best in the franchise.

Unveiling the film’s trailer, Pattinson said superheroes do not have ‘control’ over their personalities, and the line between Bruce Wayne and Batman is often blurred. He said, “The depiction between when he’s Batman and when he’s Bruce isn’t as clear as in other iterations… I really like the idea that it’s a little out of control. Haven’t defined what Batman is, but he gets lost in it. Whenever he’s putting it on every night, he’s not sleeping, and he’s becoming such a weird creature.”

The film went on floors in London last January, which was put on hold in March itself. Production resumed in September after five and a half months, but was again suspended for a few weeks after Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19.
