Robel in Bangladesh team in place of injured Saifuddin

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Bangladesh pacer Mohammad Saifuddin was on Tuesday ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a back injury and was replaced by Robel Hossain.

Saifuddin, a 24-year-old right-arm pacer, took four wickets in three qualifying games and scored 1–38 in Bangladesh’s Group 2 opening match against Sri Lanka in the Super 12.

Chasing 172 runs successfully, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by five wickets with seven balls to spare.

The ICC said that its technical committee has approved Robel as Saifuddin’s replacement. Robel has played 28 T20Is for Bangladesh and is with the team in the UAE as a traveling reserve.

Sri Lanka will take on England in their next group match in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
