After Rohit Sharma gave up his wicket for Cheteshwar Pujara, the Indian captain was applauded by many fans

Team India Captain Rohit Sharma lost his wicket after a nexus between him and Cheteshwar Pujara on the third day of the second Test between India and Australia in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh praised Pujara for the “leadership” of the Indian captain who sacrificed his wicket in his 100th Test.

Australia started the third day on top after being 61/1 at stumps on day two and restricted India to 262 in their first innings. To extend their lead over the hosts, Pat Cummins’ side suffered an unexpected collapse.

9 Australian batsmen were dismissed in a span of 93 minutes as Ravindra Jadeja registered his career-best figures to trouble the visitors.

After Jadeja took seven wickets, India restricted Australia to a total of 113 runs, leaving the hosts needing just 115 runs to win the second Test and take a 2-0 lead in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to chase but India lost Rahul early after which Cheteshwar Pujara joined the Indian captain.

As the duo tried to rebuild and take their side closer to victory, a scuffle broke out between Rohit and Pujara. The incident happened on the last ball of the seventh over of India’s innings.

Matthew Kuhnmann tosses it towards leg stump which Rohit pulls towards the on-side. He completed a single and when Pujara came back for the second run, Rohit realized he was too late.

The 35-year-old was left with no option but to walk back as Alex Carey dashed past the stumps to give the visitors something to cheer. The communication between the two senior Indian batsmen should have been better and Rohit was clearly not happy as he bounced back after starting well and added 31 runs in just 20 balls.
