Rishi Sunak in hot water as home secy’s bid to avoid speeding fine comes to light

by India Today World DeskRishi Sunak, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, was recently asked whether he would launch an investigation into allegations against British Home Secretary Suella Braverman of seeking political favors to avoid speeding fines.

Amid reports that Braverman asked civil servants in England to help him avoid getting points on his driving license for speeding, the UK PM distanced himself from the incident and said he was in Japan. Was busy at the G7 summit.

Suggesting that the reporter should have asked a question about the G7 summit in Japan, Rishi Sunak said, “I don’t know what happened, nor have I spoken to the Home Secretary. I think You can see firsthand what I’m doing.” Been doing it for the last day or so.”

He said he did not know the “full details” of the events and had not spoken to him. According to reports, Suella asked civil servants to help him avoid fines and points by arranging a private driving awareness course.

The statement came in the light of a speeding notice sent by the police after Braverman was caught outside London when she was Attorney-General. The arrangement meant the Home Secretary would not have to attend an online course with other motorists in person or where his face/name would be visible on camera to other participants.
