UK General Election 2024: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and 15 of his cabinet ministers are at risk of losing their seats in the 2024 general election “wiped out”, according to a media report citing new polling data.

Senior Tory figures including Prime Minister Sunak, Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab and Health Secretary Steve Barclay are at risk of defeat in an election due in 2024, according to polling data shared with The Independent newspapers.

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, Business Secretary Grant Shapps, Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt and Environment Secretary Therese Coffey could also lose their seats, according to FocalData polling for Best for Britain.

According to the poll, only five cabinet ministers – Jeremy Hunt, Indian-origin Suella Braverman, Michael Gove, Nadim Zawi and Kemi Badenoch – will remain after the 2024 election.

A new analysis shared with The Independent on 10 key “Belwester” seats – those that have voted consistently with the winning party in recent decades – shows that Labor is on course to take all 10.

Naomi Smith, chief executive of Best for Britain, said “nothing less should be done to eradicate Sunak’s cabinet, a group campaigning for international values and for closer ties with the EU.”

Smith said the high proportion of undecided voters still gives the Tories a chance to make the election a close call.

Despite the dreadful turnout for Sunak’s party, analysis by Best for Britain has shown Labour’s huge lead over the Tories may be more fragile than previously thought.

Sunak, 42, is battling to revive Tory fortunes in early 2023, with Labor leading by almost 20 points in recent polls.

The report said polling experts said a slight surge has now “flatlined” after Sunak took over from Liz Truss.

Earlier this week Sunak tried to relaunch his premiership by offering five promises to turn around the economy, cut NHS waiting lists and “close the little boats” until an election in 2024.

But the latest MRP poll findings raise questions about Sunak’s leadership ahead of his first real electoral test in local elections in May.

Some in the Tory party believe the defeat could see pressure on former Prime Minister Boris Johnson to return.

A grassroots Tory group made up of Johnson’s allies is set to launch a “Momentum-style” campaign to give members full power in selecting candidates.

Many of Johnson’s supporters blamed Sunak’s resignation in July last year for the fall of his government.
