Rishabh Pant Operated for Ligament Tear on Right Knee in Mumbai: Report

India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been airlifted from Dehradun to Mumbai for further treatment after surviving a horrific car accident. The 25-year-old was on his way to Roorkee from Delhi to surprise a family member, but met with an accident and was taken to a local hospital before being shifted to Dehradun. Currently, the cricketer is under the direct supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, head of the Center for Play Medical, and will continue to be monitored by the BCCI medical team during his recovery and rehabilitation.

As reported by Mid-Day, the wicketkeeper-batsman has torn a ligament in his right knee. It is learned that Dr Pardiwala and Director of Arthroscopy and Shoulder Service at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital performed the surgery.

“At around 10.30 am on Friday Dr Pardiwala and his team performed a ligament tear surgery on his right knee, the surgery was performed for around 2 to 3 hours. The surgery went smoothly,” the report said.

However, the hospital has not divulged much as it is learned that the BCCI will soon issue an official statement on Rishabh’s progress.

The accident happened in the early hours of December 30 when his car crashed into a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway and caught fire. A horrific car accident took place between Mangalore and Narsan in Haridwar district in the state of Uttarakhand.

Pant was initially taken to Saksham Hospital Multispeciality and Trauma Center before being admitted to Max Hospital, Dehradun. He was going from New Delhi to his hometown Roorkee and was driving his Mercedes car.

The BCCI’s first medical update said that Pant has two cuts on his forehead, torn ligaments in his right knee and abrasions on his back after the car accident, apart from abrasions on his right wrist, ankle and toe. Also hurt.

Later that evening, a medical bulletin said that MRI results of Pant’s brain and spine were normal. It added that Pant also underwent plastic surgery to repair his facial injuries, cuts and scratches.
