Rishabh Shetty was awarded the Most Promising Actor at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023 for his performance in Kantara.

Kantara actor Rishabh Shetty on Monday won the Most Promising Actor award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023. The actor was in Mumbai to receive the award. While he graciously walked the red carpet with the award in his black shirt and white vesti, he took to Twitter to express his gratitude. The actor dedicated his win to Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar and director SK Bhagwan.

“Honored to add a feather to this cap. I cannot express my gratitude enough for bestowing upon me the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. I am grateful to Hombale Films and Vijay Kirangandur Sir for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I am a Can’t wait to make more great films together.”

Thanking the team of Kantara and his wife Pragati Shetty, Rishabh said, “It would have been impossible without our Kantara team and technicians who supported this little dream of mine and Pragati Shetty, the pillar of my life.”

He ended his acceptance note by dedicating the award to late actor Punit Rajkumar and director SK Bhagwan. “I dedicate this award to our Daiva Narthakkaru, the people of Karnataka, the power star Puneeth Rajkumar and the great Bhagwan Sir. Thank you all for your blessings and love,” he added.

Sharing the note on Twitter, Rishabh wrote in Kannada, “I am forever grateful for this love and reward. Getting the Dadasaheb Phalke Award has given me the responsibility to do more films.”

Kantara was not only appreciated by the critics but also emerged as the biggest all-India blockbuster of 2022, receiving immense love from the fans. Directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, Kantara revolves around a Kambala champion who has a tussle with a forest official. The film was praised for the performances and for retaining the nuances of the traditions shown including the ghost kola artist. Rishabh is now working on the second Kantara film, which will be a prequel.
