The letter comes from Bhupen Kumar Bora telling the media that there is no opposition to the decision to forge an alliance with the Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF. Debabrata Saikia, however, said that the decision would be taken only by the Political Affairs Committee of the Congress.

A day after a war of words broke out between Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chief Bhupen Bora over an alliance with the AIUDF, the former has written a letter complaining of not being “happy” with the happenings within the party .

The letter came after Bora told the media that “nobody opposes” the decision to forge an alliance with the Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF. “As long as I am on this seat, the Congress is firm on its decision not to forge an alliance with the AIUDF,” he said.

However, Debabrata Saikia told the media that the decision to form an alliance with the AIUDF would be taken only by the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and not by any party member or leader.

In the letter, Saikia further said that party workers were not given what they deserved. “Following the contacts of various party colleagues in the last two days and my conversation with you later, I would like to inform you through this letter of a few things…

Dandi Sonowal was our colleague in the Youth Congress. He later served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council. Unfortunately, when the leaders and workers of the development councils formed more than 40 autonomous councils, some senior leaders of the party sided with the ruling party, the newly formed BJP, only Dandi Sonowal continued to support us. I have seen him in the past faithfully performing the duties of the Secretary assigned by the Provincial Congress for party programs in his district and other areas. A day before the conclusion of the recent Bharat Jodo Yatra in Assam, he held a meeting in Tinsukia, where the functionaries in charge of AAP and I and all India The Congress Committee was present. But this time he is saddened by his absence from the committee, and he has informed me.”

Saikia named former president of Maithili Samaj Assam Raman Jha and some other senior party leaders who were not given due importance.

Meanwhile, AIUDF’s Badruddin Ajmal had earlier said that what the Assam Congress says is “not important”. The party high command in Delhi has decided that “there must be a Congress-AIUDF alliance”.

The letter has now raised a lot of questions on the party itself. A day after two senior party members contradicted their statements regarding the AIUDF alliance, how a letter written between the two went viral and what is the motive behind it is also a question now.

Complaining further, he said, “”In 1996, when the Congress was going through bad days in Assam, Raman Jha was the general secretary of the Ganeshguri Wholesalers’ Association and various office-bearers of the PPCC, Youth Congress and NSUI from Rajeev Bhavan in Guwahati regularly visited the party. Collected various help from Raman Jha to conduct the activities of the party on time. So party would have benefited if Raman Jha was given some key responsibilities. He is also former President of Maithili Samaj Assam and is still involved in many Hindi speaking public institutions Are “
