‘Respect my feelings, back Tipu’: MSY on 1st Karhal trip in 2 years | India News – Times of India

AGRA: Samajwadi Party Patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav made an emotional appeal during a rally on Thursday to voters in Mainpuri district’s Karhal, where Akhilesh is taking on Union minister and BJP candidate SP Singh Baghel, to “respect his feelings” and elect his son and party chief “with a huge margin”. This was Mulayam’s first visit to his native village after winning the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from the district, a family stronghold.
Mulayam then appealed to the crowd to vote for “all SP nominees”. He expressed happiness after seeing the large gathering and promised to provide help to farmers, youth and businessmen. “They will play a major role in the development of the state and the country, and only an Akhilesh-led government can fulfill those dreams,” he said.
Akhilesh touched his father’s feet on the dais and took his blessings. He thanked “Netaji”, as MSY is fondly addressed by partymen, for joining him at the venue and said that his entry made the program “splendid”. “This is the place where Netaji studied, taught, wrestled, and learn politics. He took the party to a whole new level. Now it is our responsibility to maintain it,” he said.
Taking a dig at his opponents, Akhilesh, referring to the gathering addressed by Union home minister Amit Shah just 5 km away from his meeting, said, “When I was coming here, I saw one program where the ground seemed empty and the seats were vacant.” He hit out at the BJP and said: “Ghosts will dance at their polling booths this time in Karhal.”
Without mentioning the alleged attack on Baghel’s convoy recently, the former chief minister said, “They can stoop to any level to gain public sympathy as people are not supporting them.” He called the party the “Bhartiya jhagda party”, accusing them of starting “unnecessary” conflicts. Polling in the area takes place on February 20, in the third phase of elections in the state.
