According to FORDA, the protest saw huge participation from resident doctors across the country. It claimed that over 10,000 doctors took part in the all-India strike, news agency ANI reported.

“A meeting was held between Hon’ble Union Health Minister and FORDA President at MoHFW, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi. The detailed discussion held in the meeting was placed before the representatives of the Resident Doctors Association of various states in a virtual meeting held from 5:00 PM today,” the official statement of the federation read.

It was announced that the withdrawal from OPD services would continue as per the consensus in the meeting with the State RDA representatives.

“A national level review meeting will be held on Monday (29/11/2021). The medical fraternity of the country is united in this fight for justice.”

NEET PG 2021 admission to various courses has been postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from speedy counseling and admission process of NEET PG-2021, protests were also witnessed to fast track the court proceedings on urgent basis.

Speaking to ANI earlier about the woes of young students, Forda President Dr Manish said, “Our protest is real. Our PG 1st year students are already delayed by seven months and the next date of hearing by the Supreme Court is 6th January. We know there will be no decision on 6th January. The students are losing the year. They can change the reservation policy from next session.

“Also, the resident doctors working here are more cumbersome. They work for 80 hours and in such a situation how can you expect quality care?” she added.

Earlier, the central government had told the Supreme Court that counseling for NEET PG medical courses would be “postponed for four weeks” as it would determine the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category for reservation in admissions. 8 lakh annual income was the norm.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has been informed about the closure of OPD services in health institutions from November 27 onwards.

In the letter, FORDA urged the Central Government and the Supreme Court to look into the complaint of the resident doctors and take necessary measures to expedite the admission process and fast-track the court proceedings along with “NEET-PG 2021 counseling . urgent basis”.

“If there is no positive response, we will be forced to increase our protest. The responsibility of any such unfortunate situation affecting the health services will rest with the concerned authorities.
