New Delhi: The Republic Day Parade 2022 will highlight India’s military might and cultural diversity, and as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, several new activities have been added to celebrate the 75th year of independence.
The Defense Ministry said several firsts have been planned during the main Republic Day Parade 2022.

Launch of ‘Shat Shata Naman to Martyrs’ program by National Cadet Corps, a grand flypast by 75 aircraft, helicopters of Indian Air Force, cultural performance by 480 dancers, each of 75 meters drawn during ‘Kala Kumbh’ The ‘event’, a display of ten scrolls, will be on display during the Republic Day Parade 2022, according to the Defense Ministry.
According to the ministry, a drone display has been planned for the ‘Beating Retreat’ festival, which includes 1,000 domestically manufactured drones as well as projection mapping.
The national flag will be unfurled, followed by the national anthem and a 21-gun salute, as is customary. The procession will begin with a salute by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, a second generation Army officer, Lt Gen Vijay Kumar Mishra will lead the procession. The Parade Second-in-Command will be Major General Alok Kakar, Chief of Staff, Delhi Region.

The parade will be attended by six marching contingents of the Indian Army, namely the Rajput Regiment, the Assam Regiment, the Jammu and Kashmir Light Regiment, the Sikh Light Regiment, the Army Ordnance Corps and the Parachute Regiment.

The marching troop of the Indian Army theme is the evolution of the uniform and weapons of the soldiers of the Indian Army over the last 75 years.

The marching contingents will be followed by tableaux of 12 states and union territories and nine ministries/departments on various themes planned for the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

“The most eagerly awaited segment of the Grand Finale and Parade, the flypast, for the first time, as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, will showcase 75 aircraft, helicopters of the Indian Air Force in multiple formations,” reads the official statement.
For the first time, IAF has collaborated with Doordarshan to broadcast the cockpit scenes during the flyover.
The ceremony will conclude with the singing of the national anthem and launch of tricolor balloons.
