Reportedly selecting candidates with lesser marks in MPTET, Congress called it Vyapam Part 2. said

The Madhya Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (MPTET) was reportedly leaked and students who secured lesser marks were shortlisted regardless of merit, alleged candidates who appeared for the exam. Alleging malpractices in teachers and police recruitment exams, a group of students staged a protest outside the MP Professional Examination Board here on Monday.

Saurabh Vishwakarma, one of the candidates who appeared in the MP TET, claimed that the question paper of March 25 was leaked and other question papers could also have been leaked. He along with several other students is demanding cancellation of the exam.

Gwalior native Madan Mohan Dohra, who took MPTET in a government school in Bhopal, had claimed that he met a middleman from Dholpur (Rajasthan) on a train after the exam, who showed him the question paper in his mobile phone.

“How does the man get the exact question paper in his phone when mobile phones were not allowed in the exam centre?”, inquired Dohle. Quoting the agent, the agent claimed that the person said that the question papers were leaked a night before the exam and can be accessed for Rs 4-5 lakh.

The candidates demanded accommodation in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Vidisha and others, demanded scrutiny of police constable recruitment exam, and demanded cancellation of MP Teacher Eligibility Test (MPTET). Both the exams are conducted by MPPEB. Students gheraoed the MPPEB office in Bhopal and raised slogans.

Controller of Examinations Hemlata told the media that no written complaint has been received and some students have presented the issues orally. If we find discrepancies, we will take necessary action, he said.

Police sued Congress leaders, workers

On the complaint of Laxman Singh Markam, who was posted as Deputy Secretary in CM House, a case has been registered against Congress spokesperson KK Mishra at AJK police station under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act).

Mishra had questioned how the screenshot of the question paper reached Markam’s mobile phone after the MPTET question paper was leaked. On the complaint of Markam, Mishra, RTI activist Dr Anand Rai, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Congress got aggressive

MPCC President Kamal Nath also jumped into the matter saying that the state is moving towards Vyapam Part II. “Our leader KK Mishra questioned the role of CM House and instead of taking action against the officer, the state government registered a case against Mishra,” he said.

Other Congress leaders like Digvijay Singh, Arun Yadav and Jitu Patwari also pulled up the Shivraj government over the matter.

MP Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra justified the action against the Congress leader and others saying that an attempt was made to defame the officer by presenting fake screenshots of the leaked paper, hence the FIR was registered.

Narottam said, “Our government had initiated investigation earlier also and if any request comes, we will do so.”

Discrepancies in Police Recruitment Exam

Police constable recruitment exam candidates also claimed that at times the PEB portal shows them as qualified while at others, it shows ineligible. These candidates claimed that despite securing above par marks, not a single unreserved category student cleared the exam.

He demanded the PEB to clarify what criteria was used to prepare the merit list and asked the examination body to declare the result afresh.
