NDRF teams are continuously trying to rescue people trapped under the debris for 48 hours.

There is silence in Taliye village of Raigad district of Maharashtra, which has 173 houses and a population of about 700 people. Till two days ago the people of this village were very happy. The reason was that every person in the village got vaccinated. Everyone wanted to defeat the corona infection for a long life, but their happiness has now turned into sorrow.

After the landslide on Thursday evening, the bodies of 49 people have been recovered here till Saturday afternoon. More than 45 are still missing. These include two children aged 9 and 11 months. The bodies of their mother were recovered on Saturday.

42 houses of the village are completely buried under the rubble of the mountain. The hope of survival of the people buried under it is also decreasing with the passing time. The team of NDRF and local police is working day and night in an effort to get them out amid heavy rains.

Local nurse Sunetra Pawase, who was involved in the vaccination of the villagers, said, “The entire village was vaccinated last month. We have done two deliveries in this village. One nine month old and one eleven month old baby are still missing. I have seen all the small children in the village. There was a little girl in this village who used to come to visit with me. Yesterday I saw him dead, lying on his stomach, it was very painful to see.”
