‘Repeat the assistance given to the domestic electricity consumers for the industry’ | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: Two days after the order of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to restore electricity connections of domestic consumers, which were broken due to non-payment of bills, industrialists and traders have also demanded the same for industrial and commercial consumers.
Traders said they are ready to pay interest on the outstanding amount if they are allowed to pay the equated monthly installments (EMIs).
Indrajit Singh Navyugformer president of United Cycles And Parts Manufacturers Association, said, “The restoration of electricity connections to the domestic consumers who were unable to pay the bills is a very commendable step and we thank you for taking this step. But the government should also ensure that the same option should be given to other categories of consumers, especially industrial and commercial, as there are a large number of people under these categories who were unable to pay their bills. It is our humble request that all categories of non-payment disconnected connections should be restored and consumers should be given the option to pay bills as EMI at the same time as domestic consumers.
Rajkumar Singla, President, Fastener Suppliers Association of Ludhiana said, “Due to the covid-19 pandemic and suffering huge losses during the lockdown, a large number of small and cottage units were unable to pay their electricity bills. As a result, their connections were cut. Therefore, they should also be treated like domestic consumers and their connections should also be restored at the earliest. If this is done and such industrial consumers are given an EMI option to clear their dues, most of them will also pay interest on their dues. Therefore, the state government should issue an order in this regard and PSPCL should start restoring industrial and commercial power connections at the earliest.”
