Work on the stretch began in December 2020 with a deadline of six to seven months. The 24-km long corridor, of which 20 km falls in Noida and the rest in Greater Noida, was to be revamped through ‘hot-in-place recycling technology’ at a cost of Rs 61 crore. In July 2021, the deadline was extended to 31 December at the request of the contractor.
Noida CEO said, “We have now issued an ultimatum to the contractor to finish the work by April 30. After that, we will impose heavy fine on the contractor.” Ritu Maheshwari,
officials said Rights Failure to meet the April 30 deadline could result in a fine of Rs 1 crore on the contractor. Earlier, a fine of Rs 52 lakh was imposed on the contractor for missing the deadline.
In his representation before the authority, the contractor cited the Graded Response Action Plan (restrictions imposed to check pollution levels in NCR) and the ban on construction work due to intermittent rains, as it affects the timing of the project. Failed to comply with limits.
Meanwhile, in another development that will benefit the population living in 7X sectors and those in Kakrala and Sorkha, four community centers will come up in sectors 73, 112, 116 and 117. Authority officials said that work has started on the four locations and the centers will be ready within four months. A budget of about Rs 12 crore has been set aside for setting up community centres.
A lot of families choose to book community centers for weddings and other social events as private banquet halls remain out of their budget.
