Rename Metro Station Of Phool Bagh-nayaganj: Manch | Kanpur News – Times of India

KANPUR: Kanpur Nagrik Manch on Monday demanded that Phool Bagh-Nayaganj Metro station be named after Mahatma Gandhi as Nayaganj is about one kilometre away from that place.
As Phool Bagh is known as Ganesh Udyan, therefore, the Metro station, which is being constructed at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg should be named after him.
A delegation of Nagrik Manch gave a memorandum to this effect to divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar.
The delegation in its memorandum has also demanded that a flag stone of flag song (Jhanda Geet) written by Padma Shri Shyam Lal Gupta Parshad should be installed at the both sides of the Central Railway station and should also be included in the syllabus of schools.
Suresh Gupta, convener of Kanpur Nagrik Manch, had written a letter to the President of India about Shyam Lal Gupta Parshad demanding to install a flagstone of Jhanda Geet “Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara, Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara” along with the memoir.
Suresh Gupta stated that the Union home minister had written a letter to the UP chief secretary asking him to take action in this regard. Hari Om, secretary-general (administration) had directed the district magistrate Kanpur to take appropriate action and inform the government, but no action has been taken so far, he added.
He said earlier Jhanda Geet was in the syllabus of primary school, but it was removed due to unknown reasons. The divisional commissioner assured the delegation that he would take appropriate action on their demand.
