‘Remove loudspeakers from mosques or else…’ Raj Thackeray warns Maharashtra government on ‘Pakistan supporters’

MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday demanded that the loudspeakers of mosques in Maharashtra be switched off, failing which his party workers will broadcast ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ from temples.

“Why are loudspeakers played at such a high volume in mosques? If this is not stopped, speakers outside mosques will play Hanuman Chalisa at high volumes.”

“I am not against prayer or any particular religion. I am proud of my religion,” he said.

He also alleged that madrassas in Muslim huts housed Pakistani supporters and were being used as vote banks by legislators. He urged the government to conduct raids on such religious madrasas.

“I appeal to PM Modi to raid madrassas in Muslim slums. Pakistani supporters are living in these huts. Mumbai Police knows what is happening there… Our MLAs are using them for vote bank, such people don’t even have Aadhar card, but MLAs get them made.”

He also criticized NCP chief Sharad Pawar, accusing him of playing the caste card and dividing the society from time to time.

“Sharad Pawar has increased casteism. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) divided the people on the basis of caste in the state. How will you become a Hindu if you do not come out of caste politics?

Thackeray also took a dig at Maharashtra Chief Minister and his cousin Uddhav Thackeray, whose party, Shiv Sena, parted ways with the BJP over the chief minister’s post in 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah were saying that Devendra Fadnavis is going to become the next Chief Minister. Uddhav Thackeray was present on the stage but he never mentioned the seat-sharing formula. Raj said that Uddhav raised it only when he realized that the BJP could not form the government (after the 2019 elections) without his help.

He alleged that the three parties in the government (Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress) have ignored the mandate of the people.

The MNS leader lauded the progress made in Uttar Pradesh and said he would visit Ayodhya.

“I am happy to see that Uttar Pradesh is making progress. We want the same development in Maharashtra. I will go to Ayodhya, but I will not tell today, when will I talk about Hindutva too.
