Relief to Kashmiri Pandits only when they return to the Valley: Apni Party Chief

new Delhi: Amid controversies over the recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files’, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said that Kashmiri Pandits will get relief only when they return to their homeland and the gap between them and them widens. Will try my best to do so. Muslims will fail.

Responding to the film, which portrayed the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in 1990, Bukhari was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, “If there was rehabilitation by making a film, I would have liked 50 more films. I am not saying don’t make movies. But what if such films are made to help someone get votes?

“They (Kashmiri Pandits) will not get anything, my brothers are suffering here (in Jammu) for 32 years and they will get relief only when they return to their homes (in the valley),” Bukhari said. A party event, when asked for his reaction on the film.

Bukhari said those who are trying to widen the gap between communities will not succeed.

“We Kashmiris are one, be they Muslims or Pandits. This is for spreading hatred against Kashmiri Muslims and we hope it will not lead to any violence.”

Earlier, addressing the Jammu Lawyers’ meeting organized by the party here, the minister said that the issues and aspirations of the people of both Jammu and Kashmir are similar, and thus, efforts to divide them will never succeed.
