Since the target killings in Jammu and Kashmir, more than 4,000 migrant Kashmiri Pandits are protesting against the government. All these people, who were employed under the Prime Minister’s package, are demanding security from the government and posting outside the valley. It has been more than 50 days since his performance.

About 70 percent of the migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees have left the Valley and have come to Jammu. All of them want posting in safe places outside Kashmir. The rest are imprisoned in their transit camps in the Valley. These people are not coming out of their house due to fear of attack. Meanwhile, many migrant Kashmiri Pandits have received orders from the government to do duty in the Amarnath Yatra, which the employees have refused to accept.

Meanwhile, Kashmiri Pandits have intensified the agitation due to lack of talks with the administration. These people are consulting legal experts so that they can be heard through the court. The protesters had several rounds of talks with the officials. There was a conversation with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha a month ago. But the confidence of the employees is not returning.

The administration has made promises like giving a promotion to the employees of the PM package, posting in safe areas in the district headquarters and adequate security cover. The administration had shifted the employees from remote areas to safer areas, but most did not go on duty.

Employees sitting on dharna in Relief Commissioner (Migrants) office in Jammu say that PM package workers should be connected with Relief Commissioner office of Jammu till the atmosphere improves. Meanwhile, on June 29, an order has been issued directing 12 Kashmiri migrants to report to the Camp Director’s office for conducting the Amarnath Yatra.

The day (June 24) the second notice was received, the school principal issued my relieving letter. I have been transferred from Shalimar in Srinagar to Rawalpora. I told the principal that I would report to the school and take a relieving letter.

Senior staff leader Ashwini Pandita, who lives in Sheikhpora transit camp, said, “There is no question of resuming duty in the current situation. Our children are also not going to school. We just want to go to the safe zone outside Kashmir. Rakesh Pandita, a teacher serving in Baramulla said, should be attached to the Relief Commissioner’s office, Jammu.
