Reduction In Deadly Aviation Accidents Observed, Bringing Down Fatality Risk: IATA Safety Report

A safety report released by IATA (International Air Transport Association) has revealed a reduction in the number of fatal accidents as compared to the year 2021. Due to which the death rate has come down. This is a decrease compared to the five-year average recorded between 2018 and 2022. “Accidents are rare in aviation. There were five fatal accidents among 32.2 million flights in 2022. This tells us that flying is one of the safest activities a person can engage in. But even though the risk of flying is exceptionally low Yes, it is not risk free. Even at these very high levels of safety, careful analysis of emerging trends will make flying even safer. This year’s report, for example, tells us that we need to make some special efforts on turboprop operations. needs to be done in Africa and Latin America. Safety is aviation’s top priority, and we aim to ensure every flight takes off and lands safely, regardless of region or aircraft type,” said IATA Director General Willie Walsh. Said.

The industry’s 2022 fatality risk of 0.11 means that an average person would need to fly every day for 25,214 years to experience a 100 percent fatality accident. This is an improvement compared to the five-year mortality rate (22,116 years on average).
