Rebel Shivsena MLAs land at Goa airport, move to hotel for overnight stay

A close aide of Shinde had said that the group would be staying at a hotel in Goa and would reach Mumbai at 9.30 am on Thursday.

Maharashtra Shiv Sena’s rebel MLA led by Eknath Shinde landed at Dabolim airport in Goa on its way from Guwahati to Mumbai on Wednesday evening. The MLAs reached Dabolim airport in a chartered plane and headed for a five-star hotel at Dona Paula near Panaji in special buses.

Airport sources said that the chartered flight landed at the airport at 9.45 pm. In anticipation of the arrival of these rebel MLAs, security has been increased around the airport and hotel from this evening itself. The hotel has been converted into a high-security zone and people entering there are being thoroughly screened at the entry gate. Earlier in the day, legislators led by senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde paid obeisance at the famous temple of Goddess Kamakhya, where they were camping for a week, before leaving Guwahati.

Earlier in the day, the Governor of Maharashtra had directed to conduct a floor test on Thursday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray resigned from his post on Wednesday night.
