Realme Sub-Brand DIZO May Shut Down; Welcome To The DIZO, Realme Techlife And Realme Narzo Conundrum

Back in May 2021, Chinese smartphone brand Realme launched a new sub-brand called DIZO. Abhilash Panda was made the CEO of DIZO and of course, there was impressive publicity to help kickstart the brand in India.

Other devices such as Bluetooth neckbands, TWS earbuds, smartwatches, feature phones, hair dryers, trimmers were launched under the DIZO brand. In a short span of just 2 years, Dijo has launched 13 Bluetooth audio products, 17 smartwatches, 2 feature phones, 3 hair trimmers and 1 hair dryer. It is indeed a huge product list for a new brand, especially after the world has come out of the pandemic. But these launches were promoted as a huge success for the brand.

Last year Dijo celebrated the ‘anniversary’. Abhilash Panda gave the interview claiming that how successful the brand has become in India. He also cited a Counterpoint Technology market research report that claimed it to be among the “top five smartwatch brands in India” with a “4.4 percent market share”.

But Dijo won’t be celebrating its “second anniversary” this year. Why? Well, Abhilash Panda has stepped down and it looks like Realme has quietly washed its hands of the brand Dijo.

When Abhilash Panda was celebrating last year, he made a subtle point that was overlooked by many. He quietly mentioned that DIZO was not a sub-brand of Realme.

in an interview with Wire In June 2022, he said, “Dizzo is indeed a part of Realme, to be more precise we are the first brand to be a part of Realme’s TechLife ecosystem. However, we are not a sub-brand of realme.”

Recently after the resignation of Abhilash Panda, there have been rumors of a possible closure of Dezo within just two years since its launch. In fact, Dijo’s media communications team has also left recently.

Panda’s resignation has fueled speculation about the future of the brand, raising questions about Dizo’s longevity in the market. No official statement or announcement has been made yet regarding the discontinuation of the DIZO brand. We have reached out to realme’s media communication team for the same and are awaiting their reply.

Since February 2023, the brand is silent without any updates or announcements. The most recent addition to their product lineup was the Dizo Watch D2, which is slated to launch in February 2023.

So, what happens to people who have bought any of DIZO’s products? What about software updates or after-sales support?

Interestingly, in April 2023, Realme announced an overhaul for its TechLife brand, bringing all its products under its existing Narzo sub-brand. The company had instructed TechLife product fans to follow the social handles of Narzo in future. Furthermore, the company also asked fans to follow Realme’s official handle for updates on AIoT products, which means that no AIoT product will be launched under the Narzo brand.

Realme’s recent announcement has left many people confused. So far, realme has built the TechLife ecosystem consisting of three core components: industrial design, supply chain and AIoT. These components integrate seamlessly with the realme Link app. However, Realme has not given any clarification regarding the future of AIoT devices under the Dizo brand.

Also, should people trust Realme’s Narzo brand after seeing the fate of DIZO?

Meanwhile, after the resignation of Panda, people are looking for answers from the brand. Reacting to the latest development, a Twitter user wrote: “What about those who bought Dizo product and don’t have any service? Such an easy way to get out and say all the good things about the company which is a cheat and a fraud, make money and run away. Also, mind #dizo @realmeIndia company. Realme should help…”

As customers wait for clarity and support, it remains to be seen how Realme and Dijo will respond to these calls for help.
