Realme GT 2 Pro will be the company’s most premium flagship phone, the company confirmed

New Delhi: Handset maker Realme on Monday confirmed the name of its most premium flagship smartphone – the device will be called the Realme GT2 Pro. This comes almost two weeks after the smartphone company announced its entry into the premium handset category. Realme also announced this on its social media handle.

“As the first creation under Realme’s most premium flagship GT Pro series, the Realme GT 2 Pro fulfills our mission of bringing a top-notch experience with performance, design and camera to our young customers – exceeding all expectations. Sky Lee, Founder and CEO, Realme, said in a statement, “We have always been mindful of the needs of our consumers and working towards developing best-in-class smartphones for realme fans across the globe.

With Realme’s entry into the high-end flagship smartphone market, it will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S series, Mi Ultra and flagship OnePlus devices.

Lee had earlier mentioned that Realme will enter the smartphone market above $800 which translates into Rs 60,000 (and above) price segment. The company’s founder also took to Twitter to ask users what features they expect from an OEM smartphone in this price category.

This will be a turning point in the company’s current strategy. Realme took off in India in May 2018 with a budget smartphone, the Realme 1 with 3GB of RAM to compete with Redmi. Currently, the Realme GT series is the company’s most expensive lineup, but with this announcement, we can expect Realme to launch phones that directly compete with the iPhone, Mi Ultra and Galaxy S series.
