“We started the concept of creative writing in 2015-16 with the intention of ensuring holistic development of children. However, to our surprise, many students have shown great promise and are writing quality original stories,” said BG Patel, principal of Joravargarh primary school.

Kajal Luhar, 13, who has written over 30 stories to date, said she and others started writing as it was being taught, but soon realized she loved writing. “Writing is a passion for us now. We love to write original stories and poems,” said Kajal, whose parents depend on farming to earn their livelihood.
Her classmate Kinjal Choudhary, who has also written over 35 original stories, said she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. “I spend most of my free time writing. I want to be a writer when I grow up,” said the 13-year-old. Both girls have been writing original stories since they were in fourth grade.
Rita Parmar, who teaches the language to students of classes 6 to 8 in the school, says that when the authorities started the experiment in 2015-16, it was not so successful, but gradually the students caught the art of creativity and writing . “Now, students from lower classes are getting inspired by the valor of their seniors,” she said.
