Reality TechLife Air Purifier Review: An Affordable Way to Effectively Beat Delhi Pollution

We are just ahead of the Diwali season and winter is upon us, which means a season of polluted air, especially in and around Delhi. Now, this is the time when air purifiers are in most demand. Now, while getting an air purifier in the dangerous air in Delhi is a sensible option, not everyone can afford to spend between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 for an air purifier that they will use only for a few months in a year . This is when cheaper alternatives from brands like Xiaomi and Realme come into play, and Realme earlier this year launched a cheaper alternative, the Realme TechLife Air Purifier. The Realme Air Purifier was launched in India at a price of Rs 7,999, which puts it at a much cheaper price than other options from brands like Philips, Honeywell, Sharp and more.

Now, I have used the Realme TechLife Air Purifier which comes as a basic offering from the brand owned by BBK Electronics for quite some time now. The Realme TechLife Air Purifier comes with three fan speeds, one auto mode, one sleep mode, one auto mode, five wind mode settings and a few other features. In terms of design, the Realme Tech Life Air Purifier follows a safe approach, having a vertically-stacked unit. The air purifier has a plastic net-like front panel with the Realme TechLife branding on the top left corner. The top of the air purifier houses all the touch controls, as well as air vents that make up for the border of the top panel in a contrasting gray color. There’s no AQI indicator or no screen, but the Realme TechLife Air Purifier comes with a light indicator that shows you how the air quality in your room is – red indicates polluted air, orange is medium, and green is clean air .

The Realme TechLife Air Purifier comes with three fan speeds and an auto mode that makes the fans run faster or slower depending on how polluted the indoor air is. Now, this isn’t a Dyson with 360-degree polluted air input, but it takes in enough air from its front, and throws clean air from above. We saw no signs of this struggle to spread clean air. The Realme TechLife Air Purifier uses a HEPA H12 filter that removes 0.3 micron particles and 99.95 percent of PM 2.5 pollution particles. This includes dust, pollen, hair, animal dander and other allergens. The air filters are made by Sharp and the Realme TechLife Air Purifier claims to purify the air in a room of 419 sq ft at the rate of 330m3/h.

During my usage, the Realme TechLife Air Purifier produced decent results and was quite efficient in bringing down the AQI levels in my room. Almost, it took around 10-15 minutes to bring down the AQI to around 100 points. I used it in a room about 200 square feet, and it worked great. The air purifier is also pretty silent, unless the fans are running at full speed in heavily polluted air. In auto mode, the air purifier is good at sensing how polluted the air is, and adjusts the fan speed accordingly.

Even in terms of portability, the air purifier is easy to carry and store. It’s big, so it won’t take up much space. It is lightweight and can be carried easily if you want to change places. Changing the filter on the Realme TechLife Air Purifier is also very easy. Users can press-to-unlock the front panel to reveal the air filter, and you can replace it whenever you want. The touch controls also work quite well and knowing how to use the air purifier is super easy too.

So the Realme TechLife Air Purifier is a basic product, which underpins most of the offerings in the market. The Realme TechLife Air Purifier works, and it works great. It is heard when the fan is running at full speed, but it is totally different. It’s definitely lacking in smart features like AQI display, Wi-Fi connectivity, and more, but it’s meant to keep the cost so low. The product is made for people who are looking for a cheaper alternative to escape the dreaded Delhi pollution, and in that area, it checks all the boxes.
