Pat Cummins finished as the leading wicket-taker during the 2020–21 Test series and also had a successful tour of Pakistan.

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar believes Australian pace attack could be a real threat to them India In the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Australia captain and fast bowler Pat Cummins, the world’s No. 1 Test bowler, finished as the leading wicket-taker during the 2020-21 Test series and the tour of Pakistan was also successful.

“Cummins is a brilliant bowler and as we have seen in the past when the Australians have been successful, it is their pace attack that has done the damage. Josh Hazlewood missing the first Test due to injury could benefit India,” Gavaskar told The Telegraph.

“If memory serves me right, it was the first time he took a five-wicket haul in the subcontinent (5/34 on his Sri Lankan debut in Galle in August 2011). Nathan Lyon being the top bowler, he will always attack and probe, but the real threat can come from the fast bowlers.”

The first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between the two teams will start in Vidarbha from Thursday. Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

India is currently at number two World Test Championship (WTC) table and would need to win the series by an optimum margin to qualify for the final.
