Prior to the announcement of the new liquor policy by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, former Chief Minister Bharti was demanding regulation of liquor across the state.

Congress MLA Sanjay Yadav on Saturday said he is keen to join senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti’s campaign against liquor consumption in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and would invite her to villages where illegal liquor is being sold. Is.

“I am going to call Bharti today and fix a meeting with her in Bhopal. I look forward to joining hands with them to end the menace of alcohol that is destroying families in Madhya Pradesh.

He said, “If Bhartiji really wants to work to discourage liquor with the support of the government, she must first stop the sale of liquor being sold illegally in villages under the patronage of the regime.”

Bharti, a former chief minister, has been demanding regulation of liquor across the state ahead of the announcement of the new liquor policy by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

Yadav said he would invite Bharti to villages where he said liquor was being sold illegally.

“If she is not trying to revive her political career, she should come with me and see how alcoholism is ruining families,” the MLA said. Assembly elections are to be held in MP by the end of the year.

Two days ago, Bharti had tied up cows in front of a liquor shop in Orchha in Niwari district and fed them grass as part of her campaign against liquor, as she called upon people to drink milk and stay away from alcohol .

She has said that the government should not “cash in” on the drinking habits of some people. At the Republic Day celebrations, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said that the state would come out with a new policy to discourage alcohol.

On Friday, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra called Bharti’s move to tie cows in front of a liquor shop as part of the campaign a “good thing”.

Former Union minister Bharti had thrown cow dung at the same Orchha liquor shop in June last year and pelted stones at a liquor shop in Bhopal in March last year.

While Bharti started by demanding complete prohibition in the state, she is now seeking regulation of liquor sales.
