Ready to appear before UP police if arrest is not guaranteed, Twitter India MD tells court – Times of India

New Delhi: Twitter India Managing director Manish Maheshwari on Tuesday agreed to appear personally before the Uttar Pradesh Police if they do not guarantee arrest.
Maheshwari was recently summoned by the Ghaziabad Police in UP to probe an objectionable video posted regarding an attack on an elderly Muslim man.
During the last hearing, a single bench of Justice G Narendra had passed an interim order staying the same. to the police by taking coercive action against him.
After this, the UP Police challenged this order in the Supreme Court.
The social media giant is already in dispute with the central government over non-compliance with the new IT rules.

India’s new IT rules that went into effect at the end of May are aimed at regulating content on social media firms and making them more responsive to legal requests to swiftly remove posts and share details on originators of messages.
