Jadeja has been shortlisted for the first time after making an impressive start to the series for India in the World Test Championship battle against Australia.

Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, England batsman Harry Brook and West Indies left-arm spinner Gudakesh Moti were on Tuesday shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for February 2023.

Jadeja has been shortlisted for the first time after making an impressive start to the series for India in the World Test Championship battle against Australia.

Brook has been steadily progressing in Test cricket, and yet more explosive scoring during England’s series in New Zealand last month earned him another nomination for the award following his win in December.

A finalist for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month crown, West Indies spinner Moti returned staggering figures in a record-breaking bowling performance during their Test series in Zimbabwe.

The top two sides in the ICC World Test Championship standings went head-to-head in a long-awaited series in India in February, and number one-ranked all-rounder Jadeja was quick to showcase his potential as the home team took a 2-0 series lead.

Jadeja made use of the favorable conditions to take 17 Australian wickets during the month, including seven for 42 in the Second Test in Delhi. Equally impressive with the bat, his innings of 70 in the first Test set the tone for India’s early success as they aim to qualify for the World Test Championship final at The Oval in June.

Jadeja’s performance won him the Player of the Match award in both the games.

Despite only making his Test debut last September, England batsman Brook is already emerging as England’s newest threat man across formats, and after winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award in December, he Showing no signs of slowing down.

In February he put on another explosive performance in New Zealand. His 329 in the two Tests included a brilliant 186 in the Second Test at Wellington, an innings that included 24 fours and five sixes, highlighting the threat he posed to England’s resurgent Test team.

With only one previous Test to his name before the start of February, left-arm spinner Moti starred as the West Indies took a 1-0 series win in Zimbabwe last month. Taking 19 wickets in the two-Test series, Moti recorded historic figures of 13–99 in his victorious Second Test at Bulawayo – the best match haul by a West Indies spinner in Test history.

The figures were enough to earn him the Player of the Series tag, and his first nomination for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, where he has the potential to become the first West Indian winner.
