‘Raviji, Same Thing Just Happened To Me’: Tharoor On Twitter After IT Minister Locked Him

Soon after, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed that Twitter Denied access to your account for about an hour Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Friday said he too has been “locked out” for alleged violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Taking a dig at the micro-blogging platform, the former Union minister said, “Locking of DCMA notices is a foolish reaction”.

“And @Twitter shut me down again because to explain the problem, the first tweet in this thread contained an offensive copyrighted video. Locking down the DCMA notice is a silly response; disabling the video (which they now did) is) should be enough. @Twitter has a lot to learn,” he tweeted.

“Raviji, the same thing happened to me. Clearly, the DMCA is being hyperactive. This tweet has been removed by @Twitter because its video contains the copyrighted Bonniem song “Rasputin”: https://twitter.com/ShashiTharoor/status/1380746375567003649 After #DanceIsNotJihad process, a/c unlocked,” .

Tharoor further said that they would seek an explanation from Twitter for shutting down his and Prasad’s accounts.

He posted, “As the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, I can say that we thank @rsprasads from @TwitterIndia and the rules and procedures to be followed by them for closing my accounts and operating in India.” Will ask for clarification,” he posted.
