Ravichandran Ashwin was ‘numb’ after India’s WTC final loss against New Zealand

Southampton: New Zealand were crowned as the first World Test Champions of Test match cricket. India failed to stop the dominant New Zealand team in the form of Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson, two legends of New Zealand cricket. It was a great performance from New Zealand. There is a disappointment for Virat Kohli and the team, but it was a spirited performance by the Indian team.

Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed how he felt after the loss. He said that he was shocked after the match and could not believe it.

“After the match was over I was stunned, wondering what had happened. Even on the last day, I believed we were in the match. The ball tracker Kane Williamson’s lbw showed the ball was missing. It was unexpected. The match It’s over and it was disturbing. Obviously the fans are disappointed and rightly so. A billion Indians were waiting for some good news after the lockdown and things like that. But it didn’t. Fingers crossed. Just hope we can win a few more ICC tournaments,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

“They were well-deserved winners. They were there throughout the game, swinging the ball consistently. We gave our best shots. The rubbing of the green didn’t come our way. England were looking to travel and take wickets or score runs quickly. Not an easy place to go. We had a month’s break after the IPL and didn’t play any matches. Without giving excuses, we got the best of the SHO, but it didn’t happen and it was disappointing.”
