Lal Ravi Dahiya of Haryana’s soil has made it to the finals of 57 kg weight wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. By beating the Kazakhstan wrestler at 3.45 pm on Wednesday, Ravi has ensured the fourth medal for the country, while the hope of bringing his own gold medal has also become stronger. In fact, while talking to the family on Tuesday, Ravi had said, ‘I will show such a game that the world will keep watching…’. It happened exactly the same. They leveled the match by defeating both the opposing wrestlers by a margin of more than 10 points in the qualifying and quarter-finals. Won the semi-finals also with full zeal and senses. After this, an atmosphere of celebration was seen at his house and at Karmabhoomi located at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. Now all eyes are on the wrestling for the gold medal.

Father faced financial crisis, son understood the value of his struggle

Ravi, who is playing in the 57 kg weight category in the Olympics, belongs to Nahari village of Sonipat district. Ravi did not achieve this position just like that. His father Rakesh Dahiya is a farmer and he has faced great financial constraints to bring his son here. Ravi also understood the value of his father’s struggle and did not let it go in vain. After Ravi, Rakesh Dahiya is also making his younger son Pankaj a wrestler. Pankaj is currently a junior wrestler and he is practicing in the arena of Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi.

Ravi’s younger brother Pankaj told that before the Tokyo Olympics, his father was looking for a girl for Ravi, but he clearly said that he would not marry before the Olympics. The family will now start further brainstorming on Ravi’s marriage once he returns with the medal.

did as promised

Ravi’s younger brother Pankaj and cousin Raju (both wrestlers) told that Ravi had spoken to them on a video call on Tuesday itself. Ravi had said at the same time that I would show such a game that the world would keep watching. Exactly the same happened. Ravi started his winning campaign with a qualifying match on Wednesday morning. He first defeated the Colombian wrestler 13-2 and shortly thereafter defeated the Bulgarian wrestler 14-2 in the quarterfinals to reach the semi-finals. In the semi-final at 2:45 pm, Ravi faced a Kazakhstani wrestler. Here initially the rival wrestler was seen to be heavy, but in the last moment, Ravi made such a claim that the opponent became head. With Ravi reaching the final, India’s fourth medal in the Tokyo Olympics has been confirmed. However, Ravi’s eyes are fixed only on gold.

Celebrations at Chhatrasal Stadium and Nahari
As Ravi reached the final, his younger brothers Pankaj and Sanju, who were watching wrestling at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi, celebrated with fellow wrestlers. Sanju told that everyone has full faith – Ravi will win in the final as well. In Nahari village too, Ravi’s father Rakesh Dahiya and other villagers, who were watching wrestling on TV, got excited.

Ravi also won gold in Asian Wrestling Championship
Ravi Dahiya won the gold medal in one-sided matches in the Asian Wrestling Championship held in Almaty, Kazakhstan recently. In 57kg, Ravi Dahiya won the gold medal by defeating Uzbekistan’s Seferov 9-2, Pele’s Abu Rahman 11-0 in the semifinals and Iran’s Sarlak 9-4 in the final.
