Raveena Tandon’s old interview in which she talked about her failed engagement has resurfaced
Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar reportedly dated from 1994 to the late 1990s. They were also engaged for some time.
Raveena Tandon was once engaged to Akshay Kumar. The actors, who starred together in several films including Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994) and Mohra (1994), reportedly got engaged in 1995 and dated for a few years. However, their engagement did not turn into marriage. In a vintage video, Raveena opened up about their failed engagement and revealed that Akshay wanted her to quit.
Talking to Simi Garewal on his chat show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Raveena revealed that she had taken a break from acting for two years as she wanted to lead a simple life after marriage. “It was a voluntary decision. I was engaged to someone I knew. That’s what I wanted, to lead a very normal life. I left before the wedding because we thought that when my shoot was over There will be a last day, we’ll go ahead and get married,” she said in the vintage video.
When she decided to restart her career, she revealed that the offer to leave the industry had returned, but this time, she didn’t accept it. “Once I resumed my career, he again said drop it and we will go ahead with the marriage. But, then I told him that once I chose you over my career, but now I will choose my career over you.”
When the host asked her about the rumors of her not getting engaged at the said ceremony in 1995 but marrying Akshay, Raveena clarified that it was a grand engagement ceremony and nothing more. “No. (It) was a very elaborate engagement ceremony with a pandit doing the puja and everything, with his entire family flying in from Delhi as well. My family is flying in from Delhi as well. A The old man had put a red scarf on my head. I think it was mistaken for a marriage which it was not.”
Raveena and Akshay have moved on after years. Raveena married producer Anil Thadani in 2004 while Akshay married Twinkle Khanna in 2001.
