Actress Raveena Tandon Raveena Tandon received the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor on Wednesday. He accepted an honorary award from President Draupadi Murmu for his contribution in the field of arts. A grand program was organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The actress experienced mixed emotions on receiving the honor as her father had always envisioned this day, but he was no longer around.

In a recent interview, the Bollywood star talked about getting the award. “It was definitely an emotional moment for me because it was something my father had always dreamed of and thought it would be a proud moment (for him) whenever I get the Padma Shri.”

He said, “I got the honour, but unfortunately, he is not here to see it. So, receiving the honor was mixed feelings for me. It brought a bit of happiness and a bit more happiness. More happiness was when I heard about him.” I was thinking and telling (to myself) that at least I have fulfilled my father’s dream.

He further added that it was a special moment for him as his kids were also present for the big day. “It was very special that my children could see me walk in front of the nation and receive my Padma Shri. And I hope they are proud children today as I am a proud parent whenever I see them get their top grades Or when they are honored at school. I am happy that they have always made me proud. I am happy today, and I feel that I have made my entire family proud,” Tandon said.

Earlier, when the list of award winners was announced on Republic Day, Raveena Tandon had reacted to her win by saying, “Honored and grateful. Government of India, my contribution, my life, my passion and purpose – Thank you so much for accepting cinema.and art, which has allowed me to contribute, not only to the film industry, but beyond. I thank everyone who has taken me on this journey of the art and craft of cinema Guided me through – all those who held my hand through it all, and all those who watched me from above. I attribute this to my father – Ravi Tandon.’
