Rath Yatra 2021: President Kovind, PM Modi Greet People on Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Prime Narendra Modi Greeting people on the occasion of Monday Lord Jagannath Yatra. The yatra is associated with Lord Jagannath and will be taken out in different parts of the country on Monday. “Greetings to all on the special occasion of Rath Yatra. We bow to Lord Jagannath and pray that his blessings bring good health and prosperity in everyone’s life. Jai Jagannath,” Modi said in a tweet.

President Kovind also wished everyone happiness and good health by tweeting in Hindi.

In the Hindu month of Ashadha, the journey usually begins on Dwitiya Tithi (the second day), Shukla Paksha (the waxing phase of the Moon). Jagannath Temple is one of the four most important pilgrimages of Hinduism, which has immense religious significance. This year Rath Yatra will take place on Monday, 12 July 2021. Dwitiya Tithi will start from 7:47 am on 11th July 2021 and end on 12th July 2021 at 8:19 pm.

The Supreme Court has allowed the Jagannath Rath Yatra to be held in a limited range, which is welcome news for the devoted believers.

Official sources said that the district administration has imposed curfew for two days from 8 pm on Sunday. Administration imposed restrictions on 3 km long Grand Road from Shri Jagannath Temple Sri Gunducha Temple Where all activities are prohibited except for medical emergencies.

JAGANNATH RATH YATRA: HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE

Shri Jagannathji, Balabhadraji, and Subhadraji are honored by Avinashi in the Jagannath Puri temple. The present temple was built by King Chodagan Dev in the 12th century.

The temple is built in the Kalinga style. During the Rath Yatra, Shri Jagannathji, Balabhadraji, and Subhadraji ride in separate chariots to their aunt’s house at the Gundicha Temple, which is three kilometers from the Puri temple. They return to the Puri temple after an eight-day journey.

Every year, the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra begins on Dwitiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month and concludes 8 days later on Dashami Tithi with the homecoming of Shri Jagannathji, Balabhadraji, and Subhadraji.
