Rashid Khan claims third best bowling figures in BBL history

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has registered the third best bowling figures in the history of Big Bash League. In a clash between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers, Rashid laid his net around the opposition to claim 6-17, which is also his career-best bowling figure. It is Rashid’s final game of the season for the Adelaide Strikers, with the leg-spinner soon departing for international duty.

Rashid’s heroics helped Adelaide register a 71-run win over Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Wednesday. With this win, Adelaide has now moved up to fifth place in the points table.

Afghan spinners became the third bowler in BBL history after Lasith Malinga and Ish Sodhi to claim six wickets.

During his first spell, Rashid dismissed Sam Heazlett and Jake Lehmann in successive deliveries and Brisbane chased down. However, he missed the chance to take a hat-trick.

He later returned to attack in the 13th over and dismissed Will Prestige to put Brisbane on the mat. In the 14th over, the Afghan spinner took three wickets in five balls to wrap up the opposition’s innings. Interestingly, five of his six victims were dismissed for ducks after ending his BBL 2021/22 stint with the Adelaide Strikers.
